EHR COMPANIES THAT HAVE ACQUIRED OR MERGED

The EHR market has already seen a number of companies in flux-- each year when MSP attends the EHR focused conferences and determines EHR vendor attendees, especially the smaller EHR vendor list changes. Some of these companies have simply failed but a number of others have been acquired by larger EHR vendors. Also, many EHR and CPM vendors have merged in an attempt to offer an integrated physician office system. The table below lists recent acquisitions and mergers in the EHR market.

Service Changes After Merger

Once an EHR or CPM company is acquired by a competitor or larger company, you need to watch it closely to see how the new owner is going to handle things like sales coverage and service support. This is particularly true if the company acquired has a large dealer organization. Many large companies have a national sales presence or a nationwide brand identity, so they may feel they no longer have need of the dealer organization of the acquired company. However, if the PGP is used to dealing with these people, suddenly terminating them may feel like vendor adanbonment by the larger organization.
